Michigan Expungement Services
A plain-language overview of Michigan conviction set-aside matters and how the firm handles them.
Conviction Set-Aside Services
Michigan provides automatic and application-based set-aside processes. The process that may apply depends on the person’s complete record, convictions, waiting periods, and Michigan law. The King Legal Team reviews the available information and explains the process that may apply to an accepted matter.
Reasons People Seek to Clear Their Records
- Employment opportunities
- Housing applications
- Professional or occupational licensing
- Education and training
- Volunteer opportunities
- Personal and family goals
- Reducing the public visibility of an eligible conviction
A set-aside does not guarantee approval for any job, license, housing application, or other opportunity.
How The King Legal Team Helps You
Initial Information
We obtain basic contact and case information so the firm can understand the convictions the prospective client wants reviewed.
Fingerprints
For an application-based matter, the firm explains the required fingerprint documentation and how to obtain it.
Criminal-History Review
An attorney reviews available criminal-history information, waiting periods, later charges, and other facts that may affect the matter.
Certified Court Records
We obtain certified conviction records from the courts involved and identify when separate procedures may apply.
Application Preparation
For an accepted qualifying matter, we prepare the application and required supporting materials.
Filing and Court Proceedings
We file with the appropriate Michigan court and follow its procedures, including a hearing when the court requires one.
Required Notices
We provide required documents to the court, government offices, the client, and other legally required recipients.
Requirements vary by matter and court. This overview provides general information and does not guarantee that every step will apply or that an application will be granted.
Standard Expungement Legal Fee
$2,000
The standard $2,000 legal fee applies to a qualifying standard expungement matter accepted by the firm. The firm will confirm the scope and fee before representation begins.
Fingerprinting, criminal-history searches, certified court records, filing expenses, mailing, service costs, and other third-party expenses are separate unless the written agreement states otherwise.
Matters involving multiple courts, multiple applications, unusual complexity, additional hearings, appeals, reconsideration, federal matters, or out-of-state matters may require a different fee.
Representation begins only after the firm accepts the matter and all required engagement steps are completed.
